New Build in Codicote: First Floor, Walls, Roof and Stud Walls

Our new build project in Codicote, Hertfordshire is taking great shape, with major milestones reached over the past few weeks. The ground floor structure and blockwork is complete, our team has now moved onto the first floor, walls, roof, and internal stud walls – marking a big step towards the finished home.

Constructing the First Floor

With the ground floor walls up and cured, and the first floor joists and flooring system installed we have begun the next phase of construction. The joists were fitted and secured, followed by the flooring deck, giving a solid and stable base for the upper level of the property.

Building the Walls

With the first floor in place, our bricklayers continued with the external block and brickwork to bring the upper structure to full height. Careful alignment with the ground floor walls ensures a seamless finish once the property is rendered and pointed. Inside, we’ve also started forming key internal blockwork walls, which define the layout of the upstairs rooms and add to the overall structural integrity.

The Roof Takes Shape

Next came the roof structure, one of the most visually exciting stages of a build. Our carpenters installed the roof trusses, followed by the tiling and fascia work to make the building watertight. With the roof now on, we will be able to start internal works in earnest, protected from the elements. The new roof not only adds character to the property but also marks the transition from external building work to interior development.

Internal Stud Walls and Room Layout

Inside, our team has begun constructing the stud walls, forming the framework for the upstairs bedrooms, bathrooms, and landing areas. These timber partitions will later house insulation, wiring, and plasterboard, creating the internal spaces that turn a house into a home. Accuracy at this stage ensures clean lines and perfect room proportions when finishing touches are applied later on.
